Rising Sun Kite... Several have commented that they like this Rising Sun low aspect ratio kite.
The plan I used to build it came from Alberto Bonati. It has worked well. I kept pretty close to his original pattern. I only modified by limiting the longest "stick" (the spreader) to a 48" dowel (didn't want any joints). Figured out what proportion the pattern spreader was of a 48" dowel and multiplied that percentage against all other figures. Used 1/4" dowels on leading edges and 5/16" for spreader. Fabric is 3/4 ounce ripstop. The wing tip tails are 1 inch wide 3/4 ounce ripstop. Great light wind kite. In the summer, it will float on the thermals high in the
air.
